Yes, it is Tuesday and that means that it is time, once again, to tell Kerry to release that Form 180. Posted by Hello

Send this form to Kerry, along with a pen so he can sign it.

Here is johnnie boys email address, so shoot him an email asking that worm where he gets the "Gaul" to lie so aften and so badly, and tell him to sign that damn form while he is at it.

There is also a blogroll you can join and post about this every tuesday. Check some of my "right" links....alot of those folks are on that roll...and I will post that blogroll on my sidebar soon, I really will.

Actually, in order for a famous person (someone in the public eye) to bring a libel suit against someone, the famous person has to prove that the other person intended "actual malice" and is not just being stupid or ignorant. Thats why you don't see very many libel suits against famous people succeed.
So, if he doesn't sue you, it proves exactly nothing...Except that he probably couldn't care less what you think.

    Malicious Truth?

Now that would be a hell of a fight huh?

    Prosecuted for Malicious Truth Telling.

    I like that.

    That is funny.

    KraftyOne said...

Well, if it is truth telling, then its definitly not libel. For instance, if I say that Whitney Houston is a crack fiend, it isn't libel, because she...well...is.
On the other hand, if you are stating that he is lying based on no real facts and only based on your assumptions (which you are) it still isn't libel, because you are talking from ignorance.
However, if you said something like "I have seen the 1080 document and it says..." and proceeded to spout off about what it said, then I suppose that would probably be libel because you really HAVEN'T seen the document.

Well that is the heart of the problem is it not? No one has seen the files that would be released by a signed Form 180 because Johnny Boy does not want anyone to see them. He is a complete liar until that day when he signs the Form 180 and releases his records in their entirely. So he was lying to Tim Russert and to Don Imus when he said he would sign the Form 180. That sounds like the truth to me so no worries about getting sued. Sometimes the truth hurts eh Johnny boy?

Actually, Kerry hs been caught lying not by conservatives, but by the FBI regarding his attendance at a VNVAW meeting in Kansas City where serious discussions took place about assassinating Senators.

Kerry said he wasn't there and had quit before that meeting.

An FBI informant contradicts him with the fact that not only was Kerry present at the meeting, he spoke against the idea. NOT BECAUSE IT WAS A CRIME BUT BECAUSE IT WOULD HURT THE ORGANIZATION!

Then there's Kerry's second trip to Paris to meet with both the reps of the NV government and army. This is a trip he denies. FBI files prove otherwise.

And documents found at the University of Texas show that at this second meeting, John F. Kerry coordinated the activities of his group with the representatives of a government that was killing American soldiers on the field of battle.

We used to call that treason.

Facts show that Kerry is a liar about his war record, his record in the Senate, and details in his personal life.

"On the other hand, if you are stating that he is lying based on no real facts and only based on your assumptions (which you are)" ... speaking of speaking from ignorance!

Have you bothered to investigate the issue? Why don't you, as a loyal fan, email John boy and ask him why he won't sign the form? Or why he said he would, but continues to not do so?

And yes, Whitney Houston is, in fact, a crack fiend.

    TJ,

    1-800-ABCDEFG

Supposedly they sell reading learning materials. You might want to look into it.

Where did I say I was a fan boy? I was explaining libel.

Why is it that people (especially conservative people, that I've noticed) like to assume that whatever you say is either directly for or directly against what they believe? In this case, I really couldn't care less what his 1080 says. I think every choice for president for the last two elections have been bad ones. I voted for Kerry (if you must know), not so much because I thought he was that great a candidate, but because I really dislike Bush for lots of reasons. However, there was no guarantee that Kerry would have been any better, and I knew that. Had there been any strong third party candidates, I probably would have voted there (because our country, as I've said many times, badly needs a viable third party), but there weren't any.

The only discussion that should have come as a result of my posts on this comment should have been about whether my understanding on libel was correct. As someone who has some interest in the intricacies of law, I was hoping that someone with some intelligence and knowledge would stop by and either agree or disagree with my explanation of how libel works. Instead I got you...

Look, JFK stated he would sign the stupid form. He hasn't so if anyone lied it is HE. No need to defend the useless twirp. My opinion is that he hiding something very important, and he is paying someone to sanitize his record. Just saying...

    K1 -
"On the other hand, if you are stating that he is lying based on no real facts and only based on your assumptions (which you are) it still isn't libel, because you are talking from ignorance." ... the 'which you are' and the 'ignorance' parts lead me to believe you would be much happier if Kerry had won; and I was correct. Oh, and get yourself some RIF, I never said you were a fanboy ...

"The only discussion that should have come as a result of my posts on this comment should have been about whether my understanding on libel was correct" : WRT libel I believe you are correct; although your post does not appear in any fashion to be a fact finding mission (Those would generally include a ? or two). Another word of wisdom - they should not include personal attacks.

Whitney Houston is still a crack fiend. And might be a better conversationalist than K1.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a "loyal fan" and a "fanboy"? I didn't think there was one, but TJ apparently thinks otherwise.

We also apparently need some clarification on some other terms. For instance 'ignorance'. Contrary to popular belief, ignorant does not always mean stupid. It simply means you don't know much or anything about a topic. For instance, if I said that I am ignorant about deep-sea diving it would not be an insult to me, it would simply be a fact that I don't know very much about deep-sea diving. Therefore, if I said "Deep-sea diving is a difficult hobby" I would be speaking from ignorance, because, while I am guessing based on the little that I do know about it that there is some difficulty involved, for all I really know, it could be as easy as walking.

    Lets try another term. Assumption.
Here is the dictionary definition: Something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof
See, Kender was making an assumption based on his experiences and related knowledge of the situation. He is demanding Kerry to release the proof that would then possibly validate that assumption.

Now, if I could ask TJ for a term clarification. RIF? Haven't seen that one before...

There were no personal attacks. Had there been personal attacks, I'm sure Kender could and would have recognized them and responded on his own - completly without your aid.
It is however, quite nice of you to appoint yourself everyone's mommy so that you can fight the rightious fight over every imagined slight.

    kender said...

Actuallly I didn't assume anything.....kerry said on national TV that he would release his form 180....and he hasn't....therefore he lied.....and RIF is "Reading is Fundamental" and I expect that was in return to your comment, K1, that started out "1-800-ABCDEFG"......and nobody came over to act as mommy.....have you not scrolled down K1 and noticed the wide awakes blogroll?

Perhaps that is something that could use your attention.....I was off in teh field yesterday and knew you needed answering.....so I called in the troops......they really kick ass huh?

Back to the field for me for a bit...be back about 2 PST.

    TJ said...

K1 - Try looking up connotation.
Got it? Now you can read my response ...

    Fan != Fanboy :
There is a difference. The term fanboy has connotations above and beyond that of a fan; much like the term fanatic carries a more severe connotation than a simple fan (even though the words are related).

The same applies when you use words like ignorance and assumption. While calling someone ignorant with regards to a specific topic is *in and of itself* not an insult, using it to describe the eprson in general or to dismiss someone's argument when
    a) they aren't ignorant and
    b) you are (in this case)
    is something of an insult.

Ditto for assumption; you assumed Kender was assuming ... when in fact there are *hard facts* the statements are based on, and Kender even quoted them directly to preempt such attacks (whether you meant it to be personal or not).

And yes, RIF = (and I will type slowly so we do not miscommunicate further ) Reading Is Fundamental.

As to being everyones' mommy - well, that would be hard. Did you miss the day in class where they explained "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina"? However, to address your comment - mommy, no. Helping someone I respect, yes.

Although I doubt it to be the case, let me say - if I misread your statements I apologize ... and yes, Whitney Houston is still a crack fiend.

Ha ha ha ha ha! Having just described the word 'connotation' to me, you then proceeded to take the mommy comment literally. But, since this behavior is starting to form a pattern, I guess I shouldn't be suprised.

So then the progression of 'fan-ness' would go:
fan < loyal fan < fanboy < fanatic?
Aren't you sorta splitting hairs here by argueing that "I never said you were a fanboy..."? Whatever.

Oh, and you don't have to get all snarky if someone doesn't know every little internet acronym that someone decides to use, but thank you for the clarification.

    Kender.
I was unaware (ignorant, if you will...) that you had given everyone on your blogroll permission to speak on your behalf in your absense. In the future I will simply take all replies that come from anyone on that list and will just reply to you since they are simply speaking for you.

Oh, and I thought you were calling him an outright liar about his service record. Apparently you were calling him a liar because he said he would sign it and then did not? In that case, you're right, I suppose he did lie (haven't seen the quote myself where he said he would, but I'll take your word for it) and I take back my comment about your having assumed anything. Your post however seemed to imply that you were calling him an outright liar about his service record (for proof of which you would need the 1080 form), but I guess not based on TJs comments.

And, no, they don't really kick any ass at all. Rather weak really compared to what are generally good replies directly from you, but if thats who you want speaking for you, I guess thats your prerogative.

    TJ said...

K1 - yet again, you misunderstand my statements. It wasn't that I was taking it literally ... as I said, I was simply responding to your comment (for the sake of completeness, if you will).

I would say "fan < loyal fan < fanboy < fanatic" is pretty close to accurate, although fanboy still implies a less mature, possibly more envious, position.

RIF is not an Internet acronym; in fact in that context (or in HR-ese) it would mean Reduction In Force.

We don't speak *for* anyone else, we do however encourage each other to speak up others' behalf/defense.

But, we digress ... back to the issue - wouldn't you prefer John simply sign the form and (assuming everything checks out) resolve the issue, no fuss no muss?

    /TJ

Click Here!!! My Whitney Houston example was a totally random one that I picked, but look how well it turned out! :-)

Anyway, to answer your question...sure, I suppose I would like to see him sign it. Hell, I think we should require full background, no-holds-barred, everything out in the open, checks for anyone who desires to be president or vice-president of this country. We should allow a total invasion of privacy search of their entire background. The only exception to this, I think, would be if that person were in the military and had been on specific missions that were top-secret. It is silly that we have to choose our leaders based on what they choose to tell us. For this all-important position, we should have the best information available about all candidates so that we can really know who they are.
Want to see some better people get into public office? This would be a great way to do it.
