It seems to me that most bloggers on the "right", i.e. republican, conservative or generally in touch with the truth of things, don't get tons of comments on their blogs, and those they generally do get are usually pointing out small bits they missed, expanding on the info the blogger posted or 'props' to that blogger. When the occasional 'lefty' strays onto one of those 'right' blogs and posts a comment they are generally shut down rather quickly and swamped with logical counterpoints and they swiftly melt back into cyberspace.

However on the 'left' blogs, there are always commentors popping on and arguing against them, pointing out the facts of the case and generally stirring up a ruckus with the left blogger and the comments section just grows. I have been guilty of this behavior. Mostly when I have plenty of time to kill and just feel like pissing off some wrongheaded cretin. I have also noticed that the few 'lefties' that do stick around on a 'right' blog and duke it out get tiresome quickly as they usually just recycle the same old tired arguments and refuse to admit that maybe, just maybe, they aren't thinking straight.

I am forced to conclude from this line of thought that being 'right' can sometimes be a much more lonely proposition where comments and lively dialogue (read argument) is concerned, but it sure beats being an idiot.

Well, they don't call us "right" for nothing.
I have noticed that the "left" is all about feelings and idealistic dreaming, while the "right" is focused on the reality of the world and the true nature of humanity. Emotion always fails in the light of reason.
Although the idealism of the "left" can be very uplifting to ones spirit, it lacks the substance necessary to achieve the goals that it purports to endeavor toward. As a result, the "right" comes across as lacking compassion since we only look at the end results of that idealism... tragic failures and mis-management of resources.
And, since their idealism is all about feelings, they can still claim success because they feel good about having tried. Even when the outcome only makes the matter worse.

Um, actually there is no truth whatsoever to this nonsense. Plenty of rightwing blogs are swamped with comments, and plenty of left blogs dont get many. Plenty of left blogs don't have many rightwing trolls, and no one on the Left thinks the trolls ever win. And I have seen some rightwing blogs that are totally flooded with leftwing trolls, who I think kick ass.

I never think the rightwingers make any points, and you think they always do. I think the Lefties kick ass and take names, and you say they never do. The commenter says the right is about reality and the left is about dreams and I say it's the other way round. Can you see that this is all about perception? The only reason rightwing sites "shut down" trolls is that they ban them, from what I have seen.

Black and white. Black and white. Black and white. No greys.

This is what you see Kender - or seem to with this last post. You constantly chide me for being 'left' and claim yourself as being "right". It certainly is fortunate for you that you get to use that double meaning of the word "right" - its not always true. The right is as often wrong as the left. Almost every 'true' thing is somewhere in the greys.

I guess this is my biggest pet peeve with our administration - a seeming inability to see the greys. And there are so many simple minded Americans out there that they jump all over this because they can understand it. Its simple, clear cut...and...wrong. Its too simple - too clear cut. Bush put it worst when he said "You're either with us, or against us." Wrong. Not the way to get help. Not the way to live. Too cowboy'ish. As one singer I can't stand put it "Where have all the cowboys gone?" - they're gone - dead (for the most part) - their time is over. The world is not that way anymore.

Ah hell. I'm rambling. I'd delete this one, but reading back over it made me laugh, so I'll post it. I'm going home.

    Kender,

I don't have time to go into all of this, but did want to touch on two things.

One: If you don't consider yourself very wealthy and yet are paying that much in taxes, you need to get a better accountant.

Two: Healthcare (back to this topid - again) is a problem BECAUSE we don't provide it to everyone. People who cannot afford the exorbitant rates for preventative and maintenance healthcare end up in the emergency room. Things that could have been treated and moved on from now become life threatening - requiring a trip to the emergency room. You said: "I think that life saving health care is a right to all." You are correct, but your thinking is too narrow. You wish to wait until things become life threatening issues and then treat them. I want to treat them so they do not become life threatening. Preventative maintenance is always cheaper than emergency care.

I shudder to think what the Socialists that posted on here would think of me. Kender is positively a moderate compared to me. Economically I adhere to the Austrian school (don't know what that is? How can you debate socialism and government economics if you don't know what the Keynesian, Chicago and Austrian schools are and what the major differences are between them?). On government vs. individual responsibility I adhere to the Jeffersonian Liberal tradition. I'm a true Liberal as opposed to the so-called American liberal which is newspeak for American socialist. Don't know what I mean, check this page out ....... another name for what I believe is Rational Anarchy.

Why do I believe this way? Not because I don't care, not because "I've already got mine" and the proletarians can eat cake. Because I do care. Because I refuse to treat an adult like a child, because the best way for everyone (not just select groups) to improve their standard of living is to do away with nanny government, high taxes, welfare, intrusive regulation, etc. and allow the free market and individual responsibility to work. Because sooner or later Darwin, Smith and Malthus are always right and you socialists are condemning some large (but not the whole) group of people to never learn how to compete and when the time comes to compete, when your cherished programs and taxes and regulations fail, they will learn the hard way that the universe could care less about your "inalienable rights". I'm probably a son of a bitch in your eyes, but I care enough to insist that people be responsible adults who can stand on their own two legs and do for themselves, and you don't.

    Have a great day! :-)
